Sarv Siksha Abhiyan- Emphasis on Earning while learning (EEL)

Most of the school drop outs and out of school children in the age group of 6 to 14 years are from economically, socially and educationally backward families. Keeping this cause in mind, Buddha Education Foundation carried out extensive surveys of different slums and other areas inhabited by weaker and backward sections of society .The main reasons for children in the age group of 6 to 14 years leaving the school were :
Lack of awareness about the value of education
Extreme economical backwardness of the parents of targeted school drop outs and out of school children
Compulsion to increase merge family income
Elder sibling to look after their young ones
Lack of mechanism of monitoring and preventing the malady of drop out menace
Gender bias for drop out and out of school children
Broad classification of out of school and drop out children showing a bias towards girls, Urban poor ,Schedule caste ,nomadic population
With help of Sarv Siksha Abhiyan, Buddha Education trust came up with innovative solution to bring substantial change in problems came out in the survey .We emphasized on creation of mechanism where our trust would counsel and motivate parents of targeted children about the value of education in life.

Having recognized the reality of targeted children is required to supplement their parent’s income. We introduced low skill vocational training course like packaging, gift wrapping, candle making, agarbatti making, helping hands in tailoring trade, newspaper vendors, vegetable sellers and sales boys at departmental stores etc .This step would provide incentive for prolong gapless education for targeted groups.

Our Foundation worked in close proximity with school management and parent teacher association to assess the causes of drop out and bring the rates down critically. In order to create awareness we organized focused nukkad nataks, role plays on education and seminars to motivate elders and parents on importance of basic education.

Under this initiative we covered 500 centers consisting of 25 children per center, reaching out to more than 12500 beneficiaries.
